The Hanover House, Circa. 1716

Hanover House, circa 1716
By Laurie Epps

My middle daughter has chosen Clemson University for her undergraduate work, and when perusing the website, I discovered that there isn't just one historic home on the grounds, but instead, 3! Being just a mere half an hour from my home, it was a logical choice for my fashion blog.

This year, the Hanover House is celebrating its tricentennial. Originally located in the lowcountry (the coastal side of SC), it was relocated to the upcountry (the Blue Ridge side of SC) to the South Carolina Botanical Garden in 1994 which is on the Clemson University Campus.

Woodburn Historical Plantation

Woodburn Plantation Historic Home
By Laurie Epps

I'm fortunate enough to live in one of the original 13 colonies that is steeped in rich American History. Something about this home near my daughter's college just spoke to me, so I took a drive by to inquire about the hours, and returned with her little sister to take the tour.

The Newberry Opera House

Inside the Newberry Opera House
By Laurie Epps

When traveling to our state capital of Columbia, South Carolina, I'd had so much fun in Pickens that I decided to make a history stop on the way back home. As a former performer myself, the Newberry Opera House was a logical choice. I thought this stop would merely be to get hours, and return to tour it. I was mistaken, and cheerfully a docent named Linda greeted me when I opened the door. Since my journey was due to an interview, I was dressed for the occasion, so I figured, why not?

The Hagood-Mauldin House

Pickens, SC Square
By Laurie Epps

Something about the town of Pickens just spoke to me, and my curiosity of this place led me to the historic home called The Hagood-Mauldin House. Since I gave my friend a ride out there, she graciously indulged my girlish whim of following my call to my first walk back in time.

Happy New Year

From our hearth to yours.....
Happy New Year, 2016!

I'll be back with new content this summer. I'm taking some time off due to technical issues, and major life changes. All of it's good, though.

God's Placement

Near the Beach in St. Augustine, FL
By Laurie Epps

Lately, I've felt convicted to tell my story. I've gone through a lot, and I realize that it was for a reason. God can make even the things that seem awful, as pure as the driven snow. At the risk of ruining my own reputation, I'm going to include my imperfections, and yet, God still can use me. Our God is a God of love, forgiveness, and will love you no matter what you've done.

"Come now, let us settle the matter," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. ~Isaiah 1:18

My Story, The Timeline Version

By Laurie Epps

If you’re new to my blog, you may wonder why I’m writing it, or what my platform is. Well, I’m not here to sell you anything, or to ask you to sell anything. I’m here as a messenger of God. I’m fully human. I’m flawed, and imperfect. I sin. I love. But I have a very important message to send the world, and I’m using my own blog to do it. I hope this blog will encourage and inspire you.
