Cherish Your Email Signature Line

My mentor, Edie Melson
By Laurie Epps

Sorry about the long break in my posts. But as the cooler temps, and autumn air is sinking in, we're all adjusting to our new schedules. Routines are being established, and I'm adjusting to life without school.

Now, it's back to work. Be sure to check back on our new day, Tuesday. This will just help me tremendously with my schedule. We're still working in my mentor Edie Melson's book, Connections: Social Media and Networking Techniques for Writers.

How do you sign your letters, or correspondence now?

Beneath your signature, you can create new connections by supplying your recipients a link to:

  • Your blog.
  • To buy your book, or publication you're printed in.
  • You can provide a link to your regular column.
  • Include links to your Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest accounts.
It's free publicity, why wouldn't you want to do that?

Basics you'd want to include:

  • Your legal name, or pen name (if applicable),
  • A link to your website or blog,
  • Your URL (web address),
  • Your Twitter account name,
  • A link to your latest book or in my case, your latest publication.

Things you shouldn't include:

  • Never make a signature line more than six lines.
  • Don't add too many graphics, if any, it takes longer to load.

Connect Activity:
Make sure all your devices have a signature line.

Including:

  • Your computer or laptop's email,
  • Your smartphone,
  • Your tablet or iPad,
  • Your eBook Reader.
It's important that you check them separately, because they don't save your signature lines between devices, even on the cloud (or iCloud).
